Q 1. Are towels, linen, pillows and duvets supplied?
A. Your cottage will be fully made up for you on arrival. Bedding, all linen and bathrobes are included in the price of your holiday, for guests staying 7 nights we change towels midweek.
Q 2. Is there a welcome hamper, if so what’s in it?
A. Yes, the Welcome Hamper contains; Juice, bread, butter, milk, chocolates, eggs and home-made biscuits. We also provide tea, coffee, sugar, oil, vinegar and condiments; most of which is locally sourced and organic if possible.
Q 3. How far away is the nearest pub, shop and supermarket?
A. The nearest pub is The Old Bowling Green in Winster, as is the local community shop and Post Office 1 mile away. Supermarkets: Sainsburys in Matlock (with a M&S Simply Food opening spring 2016). Locally there are 3 supermarkets who will deliver to your cottage Waitrose, Sainsburys and Tesco.
Q 4. Do you provide outdoor furniture and BBQs?
A. Yes, each cottage has it’s own private terrace with table, chairs and depending on the weather a parasol too. BBQs are available on request.
Q 5. Is there a hair dryer/iron in the cottage?
A. Yes, there is a hair dryer in each bedroom and each cottage has an iron and ironing board.
Q 6. Is there off road parking?
A. Yes, there is ample parking for up to 10 cars on site near to the cottages.
Q 7. Are there any local maps for walks and cycle routes?
A. Yes, as well as OS maps we provide a wide variety of local walking maps, cycle hire information and cycle routes, as well as cycle storage facilities.
Q 8. Will you allow a small well behaved dog?
Very sorry, I’m afraid not, we do not take pets. We can, however, give you the number of a local cattery or kennel.
Q 9. Do you keep livestock on the farm. Is there a cockerel?
A. We are no longer a working farm although we do keep a few very friendly hens who provide our guests with fresh eggs – we do not have a cockerel so there should be no disturbance at 4am! Each year from April to October we raise 3 or 4 pigs, guests are welcome to help feed and pet them, they provide us and our guests with lovely fresh outdoor reared bacon and sausage.
Q 10. Can you really see Chatsworth House from Blakelow?
A. Yes, we stand at the head of the valley looking down toward Chatsworth House which is 8 miles away. As we say “we can’t quite see the Duchess putting the milk bottles out but the views are stunning”!
